Biographical Sketch:
-10/07-present: Epidemiology Analyst Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health Immunization Program Los Angeles, CA Conducting passive disease surveillance on 10 vaccine-preventable diseases including daily surveillance phone coverage. Processing all reports of 10 vaccine-preventable diseases by gathering pertinent case information, managing disease incidents and outbreaks and ensuring the timely referral of case reports to district public health nurses for follow up case investigation. I determine final disposition of reported case after it has been fully investigated. Presenting case reports on a weekly basis to members of the Epidemiology Unit. These members include the Medical Director of the Immunization Program, and the Nurse Manager. Performing quarterly data reconciliation which involves the careful review of all case reports received in an effort to maintain quality assurance. -10/05-09/07: Patient Liaison Westchester Medical Center/MRC Physicians-Gastroenterology Department Valhalla, NY Dictating Emergency Room consults from the Medical Center to physicians in the gastroenterology department. Transporting patient medical records and equipment to departments and healthcare personnel throughout the Westchester Medical Center. 09/05-09/07: Education Team Volunteer at The American Red Cross- Westchester County Chapter Analyzed and interpreted existing health data of pandemic bird flu strain H5N1by using computer database program STATA in order to assess risk of pandemic and recommend control measures. Prepared and presented detailed educational information on emergency preparedness methods to various African American organizations throughout Westchester County. 08/04-05/05: Research Assistant Dept. of Biobehavioral Health at Penn State University Conducted studies on rat’s biobehavioral responses to numerous environmental stressors. Collected blood and hormonal levels sample data from rats, then prepared progressive health reports by entering data into computer database. 08/03-05/04: Peer Educator (Sexual Health and Substance Abuse Educator for HealthWorks); Healthworks Peer Mediation Program at Penn State University Disseminating information on safe sex and substance abuse prevention measures to college peers in order to help students make informed health decisions. Assisted Health Coordinators in formulating new health education workshops targeted towards minority groups.
