Biographical Sketch:
Mary Quirk joined the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as a writer/consultant in 2001. The organization provides practical immunization information to healthcare professionals and their patients to increase immunization rates and prevent disease. She is IAC's Website Content Manager ( and and contributes as a writer of IAC educational materials, including Unprotected People reports. As a medical and science writer, she contributed more than 100 news articles to medical and scientific journals since 1997, including The Lancet Infectious Diseases and Clinical Infectious Diseases. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Additionally, she worked as a research scientist in the division of infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul) for more than a decade studying the pathogenesis of human cytomegalovirus.
