Biographical Sketch:
Mary Quirk joined the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as a writer/consultant in 2001. The organization provides practical immunization information to healthcare professionals and their patients to increase immunization rates and prevent disease. She is IAC's Website Content Manager (www.immunize.org and www.vaccineinformation.org) and contributes as a writer of IAC educational materials, including Unprotected People reports. As a medical and science writer, she contributed more than 100 news articles to medical and scientific journals since 1997, including The Lancet Infectious Diseases and Clinical Infectious Diseases. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Additionally, she worked as a research scientist in the division of infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul) for more than a decade studying the pathogenesis of human cytomegalovirus.
