Biographical Sketch:
Alan Janssen is a Health Communication Specialist at the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) Office of Health Communication at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Currently he is the project officer and communications lead for the influenza vaccination efforts of NCIRD. In addition, he manages vaccine assignments. Mr. Janssen’s CDC assignments also include The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) along with an extended detail at the Office of the Secretary – Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at DHHS in Washington, DC. Prior to beginning his 17-year tenure at CDC, he was the Education Outreach Coordinator at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, KS, now called the Via Christi St. Francis. He has also served as Assistant Director of Healthcare Outreach at the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine–Wichita. He has also served as Project Coordinator at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. While in Wichita, he was appointed to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Board of Health.
