Biographical Sketch:
Ms Barbara Nichols is an Informatics Health Scientist currently in the role of Team Lead for the Countermeasure and Response Administration (CRA) and the Countermeasure Inventory Tracking (CIT) applications located in the Division of Surveillance Systems and Services within the National Center for Public Health Informatics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Ms Nichols joined CDC in 1990 when she started her Federal career as a Microbiologist in the Hepatitis branch, Division of Viral and Rickettsial Diseases. Ms Nichols spent 12 years conducting viral research on various Hepatitis viruses. From here, Ms Nichols accepted a position in the Information Resources Management Office, Office of the Director as a Management Program Analyst serving as the Executive Secretariat for the CDC Information Council and the Chief Technology Officers committee. After the National Center for Public Health Informatics was formed, Ms Nichols transitioned into a Health Scientist position. Ms Nichols served as a Health Scientist on numerous NCPHI projects including H1N1 response and the Electronic Medical Records Alerting Project. Ms Nichols received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University.
