Biographical Sketch:
With 25 years of experience in the health care arena I bring to the table a broad range of experiences in Emergency Medical Services, Laboratory Science, Clinical Medicine, Epidemiology and Emergency Management. I have earned a BS from City College of New York/Sophie Davis School of Medicine as a Physician Assistant and an MPH from the University of Arizona in Community Health Practice. After leaving full time clinical practice in 2002 to join Maricopa County Department of Public Health I became involved in communicable disease epidemiology focusing on new and emerging diseases such as West Nile Virus and Dengue Fever. Presently, I am the director of the Public Health Emergency Management Program , responsible for All-Hazards Public Health emergency planning for a community of 3.8 million persons and administrator for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cooperative agreements grants for Bioterrorism Prevention, Cities Readiness Initiative and Pandemic Influenza which total ~ $3 million annually.
