Biographical Sketch:
2006-present Director, Division of Viral Diseases (DVD), National Center for Present Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, CDC Major Duties: I supervise and manage DVD and conduct original research. DVD has a staff of ~180 people and is responsible for laboratory and epidemiologic studies and prevention programs for the enteroviruses, herpes viruses, measles, mumps, non-influenza respiratory viruses, rubella, parvoviruses, and viral agents of gastroenteritis (e.g. norovirus and rotavirus). 1982-2006 Chief, Respiratory and Enteric Viruses Branch (REVB),Division of Viral and Rickettsial Diseases, National Center for Infectious Diseases, CDC. 1980-82 Infectious Disease Fellow, Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts 1977-82 Medical Epidemiologist, Respiratory and Special Pathogens Branch, Viral Diseases Division, Bureau of Epidemiology, CDC Publications: 185 publications in the peer reviewed literature and 45 book chapters and review articles. All of these articles, chapters or review articles relate to viral infectious diseases and over 50% to respiratory viral infections.
