Biographical Sketch:
10/2006 - present – Director, Division of Genomics, Perinatal Health and Chronic Disease Epidemiology Bureau of Epidemiology, Michigan Department of Community Health; Guest researcher/alumni - MCH Epi Team/Applied Science Branch Division of Reproductive Health/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Adjunct Assistant Professor - Michigan State University This Division offers the unique opportunity for interaction and collaborative work/projects among different epidemiologists providing support to MCH and Chronic disease programs as well as Genomics/Genetic Disorders. The mission of this Division is “To provide statewide leadership and expertise essential for integrating genomics and epidemiologic science into maternal, child health, chronic disease and other related public health programs.” Each of the two Sections, MCH and Chronic Epidemiology, provides epidemiological leadership & expertise to assure translation of research & evidence-based prevention strategies into public health policy & practice. Gestational diabetes is one of the Division projects. 9/2004 – 10/2006 – Manager, MCH Epidemiology Section and State Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiologist, Epidemiology Services Division, Bureau of Epidemiology, Michigan Department of Community Health; Guest researcher/alumni - MCH Epi Team/Applied Science Branch Division of Reproductive Health/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Besides mentorship and supervision of MCH staff, CSTE fellow and EIS officers, responsible for many projects 8/2003 - 9/2004 - CDC MCH Epidemiologist fellow, Senior MCH epidemiologist/team leader assigned to Michigan Department of Community Health. Besides mentorship and supervision of MCH staff, CSTE fellow and EIS officers, responsible for many projects 12/2002 - 8/2003 – CDC/HRSA MCH Epidemiologist fellow assigned to Georgia Division of Public Health, MCH Epidemiology Section Conduct different studies (i.e., Peripartum Cardiomiopathy case review, Morbidity trends in women of reproductive age, Impact of diabetes on pregnancy outcomes).
