Biographical Sketch:
Jan currently manages the Vaccine and Immunization Registry Integration Unit of the Washington State Department of Health, Immunization Program CHILD Profile. Washington is a Universal Access State, with an annual combined state and federal vaccine budget of approximately one-hundred thirteen million dollars, serving over 1.5 million children through over 1230 provider sites. Jan provides leadership in budget, policy development and assessment efforts related to vaccine management, integration of the immunization registry in immunization practices and other areas of immunization practice. Jan has provided leadership for Washington’s Vaccine Management Business Improvement Project (VMBIP) pilot, and is the lead for stakeholder involvement for planning and implementation of VMBIP. Jan is currently a member of the VTrckS Grantee Advisory Committee and several AIM work-groups partnering with the CDC to promote best practice standards for vaccine management. Jan's experience in public health also includes nationally recognized work in the development of assessment and health care quality assurance strategies for children with special health care needs. Jan has experience in the arena of public health genetics, including birth defects surveillance, genetics education, and early hearing loss detection diagnosis and intervention. Jan has co-authored several publications on these topics over the last five years.
