Biographical Sketch:
Edward Wake is the Adult Immunization Unit Chief of Bureau of Immunization, and has been a Public Health Advisor with the CDC for over four years. Prior to his assignment in New York City, he served at both the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (LACDHS) and the State of California Department of Health Services (CDHS) for 10 years. He has been involved in several aspects of immunization, including serving as vaccine management coordinator, regional VFC Program coordinator, and school assessment coordinator in either LACDHS or CDHS.
He has also had extensive experience in supervising, and mentoring at various levels. As the first VFC representative in California and second in the nation, he was instrumental in assisting in the developing the program, developing provider tools and QAR protocols, and training many of the staff who served as state program representatives, until his departure in 2002.
Mr. Wake has also helped developed several media promotions, including a two Hepatitis B awareness and a childhood immunization campaign for Los Angeles and California, and has worked on the most recent Influenza campaign for New York City. He has also presented at local, state, and national immunization conferences.
