Biographical Sketch:
September 2008 - Present -- Senior Policy Analyst, American Nurses Association
Core Duties Enhance the nursing profession through internal and external mechanisms. Coordinate the development of core profession documents such as the scope and standards for specialty nursing, official association position statements, and other association materials with working groups of nurses. Advocate for nursing and nursing’s interest as a stakeholder in federal policy development and/or revision.
Portfolio of issues centers on public health infrastructure and public health issues, including public health nursing and other workforce issues, immunization, disaster preparedness and response, infectious and communicable disease, and maternal child health.
Specific roles and titles
Project Director: “Bringing Immunity to Every Community” cooperative agreement with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This project serves to improve immunization competency, advocacy, and vaccination rates among nurses and to the general public.

Core Duties Provide management and leadership oversight of immunization services at health department immunization clinic, as well as in school-based clinics; Conduct immunization orientation for all new public health nursing staff, ongoing training for current staff; Facilitate community outreach and immunization education, including use of new media; Maintain knowledge of current immunization schedules, policies and pending legislation; Implement public health priorities in the community.
