Biographical Sketch:
1999-present – Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Appointments in Computer Science, Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, and the College of Medicine (pediatrics) Researched the economics of pediatric vaccines since 1996. Published over 180 refereed journal articles (113), reviewed proceedings (47), book chapters (11), and editorial/professional articles (14). Delivered over 300 presentations at national and international conferences, universities and research laboratories. Received numerous awards for research, including Outstanding IIE Publication Award, Institute of Industrial Engineers, 2009, Award for Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering, Institute of Industrial Engineers, 2010, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, 2003. Awarded over US$3.7M of federal research grants from several government agencies, including the National Science Foundation and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Produced the video, “A Health Collaboration: Pediatric Immunization and Operations Research,” (released April 24, 2006). Public health research has been reported in the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Globe, editorialized in the New York Times, discussed in Business Week, Forbes, and Kiplinger, and in person on CNBC's Street Signs and The Closing Bell, Washington Post Radio, and The Osgood Files on CBS radio.
