Biographical Sketch:
Currently work within the Varicella Active Surveillance Project, a collaborative project with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This position requires knowledge of medical terminology and coding, HIPPA policies, statistical analysis packages and study design, among other knowledge points as needed. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning, designing, conducting, and interpreting of research projects; collect data through telephone interview and medical chart abstraction; data analyses using SAS 9.2 and Microsoft Office programs; manage two large databases, utilizing Microsoft Access and CDC web portal; prepare yearly and bi-annual reports for grantors with current data and future recommendations based on research findings; serve as interface between ~300 surveillance sites and HIM/Health Information Departments and participate in site visits on quarterly basis.
