Biographical Sketch:
1999 to Fall 2010 Dr. Fath's public health experience began in 1999 when she designed Epi-X, a secure, web-based communications system for early outbreak reporting by public health professionals. She applied user-centered design techniques in more than 10 major releases to Epi-X between 2001 and 2010. She developed and implemented a notification proficiency testing program to ensure that Epi-X users are able to access the secure website and can respond appropriately in an emergency. Dr. Fath routinely interfaced with users and Epi-X development staff to improve and enhance the system. In addition, she collaborated with public health experts to develop new types of content to post on Epi-X. During Dr. Fath's tenure with the Epi-X program, the system grew to include over 5,700 state, local, and federal public health officials, who posted over 17,000 reports about health events. Fall 2010 to present In September 2010, Dr. Fath joined the NCIRD Immunization Systems Division / Immunization Information Systems Support Branch (IISSB). She supports grantees as they interface their immunization registries with a new vaccine ordering system, VTrckS. While the current focus is on pilot grantees (Michigan and Washington), Dr. Fath will apply lessons learned in the pilot test to inform support activities for all other grantees.
