Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Atlanta, Georgia May 2008- present Health Scientist Description: The Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program is a national initiative aimed at preventing chronic perinatal hepatitis B infection and subsequent liver disease through the identification of all Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg)-positive pregnant women—ensuring that their infants receive post-exposure prophylaxis and complete a HepB vaccine series. Provide statistical and research expertise to evaluate the Enhanced Perinatal Hepatitis B Case Management Project (manage, evaluate, and track the progress of 5 grantee sites accounting for greater than 25% of the expected births to HBsAg-positive women) Provide technical assistance and consultation to support projects related to perinatal hepatitis B virus to local, state, and national agencies and non-profit organizations for the improvement of programs and/or services Develop program evaluation tools to assess effectiveness of current guidance for activities of the Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program Conduct site visits at project sites to evaluate program’s best practices and barriers and provide necessary recommendations Assist in the development of accurate, timely and effective tools, and materials for the prevention of perinatal hepatitis B infection Develop, plan, and implement guidance and protocols related to perinatal hepatitis B program Serve as the DVH liaison for the Perinatal Executive Committee (PEC) Produce written products related to program (i.e. memorandums, reports, etc.) Select and use appropriate data collection techniques and statistical analysis methods in conducting public health , epidemiologic, and social science studies Communicate technical and project related information to co-workers and colleagues Communicate orally on my work at local and state workshop and seminars and nationally at professional conferences Host quarterly conference calls for Enhanced Perinatal Hepatitis B Case Management Project; subsequently prepare and distribute minutes
