Biographical Sketch:
07/10-present, Medical Officer, Immunization Services Division, CDC, Atlanta, GA -Lead for the Rapid Flu Survey to collect influenza vaccination coverage and KAB data nationally and in 20 local areas. -Currently leading a project to examine discrepancies between CMS influenza vaccaination claims data and MDS data. 10/09-07/10, Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer Assigned to: Epidemiology and Prevention Branch, Influenza Division, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, CDC, Atlanta, GA Accomplishments/impacts: Lead a national investigation of 2009 H1N1-associated hemorrhagic pneumonitis to identify risk factors and determine what treatment and prevention strategies should be targeted to persons at risk. Coordinated national surveillance and case finding activities. Lead author and data analyst for planned peer-reviewed publication. Supervised four medical students. Developed a national study to investigate 2009 H1N1-related deaths, including development of the survey methodology, data collection instrument and data management system. Participated in an investigation characterizing 2009 H1N1 influenza like illness activity from April 2009 to March 2010 in Georgia. Responsible for conducting GIS mapping of confirmed cases, hospitalizations, deaths, and ILI like illness to detect differences in geographic distribution of illness. Lead a survey of hospitalized individuals to determine barriers to 2009 H1N1 vaccine uptake in Georgia.
