C4: C-4 The Y Factor: You've Got Male

Although it is clearly recognized that both a male and female are involved in the conception of a child it is increasingly evident that the male role has been minimized in approaches to reducing low birth weight, understanding their influence on interconception health care decision making and addressing the importance of their impact on women's decision about bearing children and living healthy lifestyles. This thought-provoking panel will look at innovative community based programs that focus on the male role and their impact on preconception care outcomes beyond conceiving. Male positive image development, father friendly family support systems and the male influence on healthy decision making will be among the topics discussed.
