C5: C-5 Environmental Risks Before, Between, and During Pregnancy

There is growing concern about how prenatal exposure to environmental contaminants can adversely affect perinatal and subsequent child health. This session will discuss the impacts of environmental contaminants on fetal health through a case study on a community impacted by surrounding petrochemical and plastics industry. This session will also discuss more general population exposures and presentations will be given on developing communication tools to help advise pregnant women on reducing potentially harmful exposures to environmental contaminants.
