Biographical Sketch:
John Abellera is with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Public Health Informatics (NCPHI), and serves as a Health Scientist for the National Electronic Diseases Surveillance System (NEDSS) team. He is the Point of Contact for several NEDSS related activities. Mr. Abellera has worked in public health for over 7 years. Early in his career, he worked as an epidemiologist for the Pinellas County Health Department in St. Petersburg, FL, and the Georgia Emerging Infections Program in Atlanta, GA. More recently, and prior to joining CDC in January 2007, he served as a Senior Research Analyst for the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. He earned a BS in Applied Ecology at the University of California, Irvine, and an MPH in Epidemiology at the University of South Florida
