Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Mursalin is medical graduate from Nishtar Medical College with Masters in Public Health from Netherlands and has post graduate qualification in health and development and health information systems. He has over 25years of persistent experience of working with the Ministries of Health, Population Welfare and international organizations (WHO, UNICEF). Here he was extensively engaged in the areas like Monitoring and Evaluation , Reproductive Health/ Child Survival Program, Health Information System Design and implementation, Human Resources for Health and Disease Surveillance. He possesses extensive practical experience of designing and implementation of Health Information Systems and PRSP/MDG Monitoring both at the national and provincial levels. Currently he is the National Coordinator of the National Health Information System and the newly evolving Human Resources for Health project. He is also the national focal person for Monitoring of World Banks PRSP/MDG. He was amongst the core team for the development of National Disease Early Warning System (DEWS). He played a pivotal role the development of National Plan of Action on Disease Surveillance- which is 10 years vision document, where he worked with experts from CDC Atlanta, WHO and the World Bank. He is the author of a number of reports and technical documents of national and global significance. These technical papers were presented at both national or international forums. e.g. RHINO- USA and WHO’s Health Metrics Network Geneva, CHORDS -USA. He has attended a number of international conferences/workshops. He has organized training programs and is also a visiting faculty for MPH and MSc student at Aga Khan University- Karachi, IPH- Lahore, Armed Forces Medical Institute.(AFPGMI) and USAID Field Epidemiology Program (FELTP), in the areas of Public Health, HMIS, Surveillance and Evidence and Policy. He is member of WHO’s International Taskforce on Health Information System (HMN) and member of US based RHINO Network. .
