Biographical Sketch:
Austin Kreisler is a Health-care Informaticist specializing in the use of HL7 Standards to improve interoperability in health-care.
Mr. Kreisler is and expert in both HL7 2x and HL7 V3 data exchange standards with 19 years of work experience in the clinical and laboratory interface arena as a interface support engineer, interface software developer, interface software designer and as an HL7 standards developer
From 2004 to the present, serves as full-time HL7 subject matter expert to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Is extensively involved the HL7 Standards Development Organization focused on developing standards to support clients data exchange requirements.
Currently co-chairs HL7 Technical Steering Committee and the HL7 Structured Document Work Group, leading development of the next generation of messages and documents using HL7 Version 3.0.
Also Co-chairs the HL7 Domain Experts Steering Division, is primary representative to the HL7 Technical Steering Committee and is a past co-chair of the Laboratory and Orders and Observations Work Groups.
Active participant in the HL7 Modeling and Methodology, Public Health and Emergency Response Work Groups.
Has represented the CDC at the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) where he served as a subject matter expert in HL7 Laboratory messaging.
In 2006, was recognized by the Health Level 7 organization as an HL7 Volunteer of the Year.
In 2009 Mr. Kreisler was appointed an SAIC Technical Fellow.
