Biographical Sketch:
12/2006-Present -- Information Technology and Telecommunications Manager, California Department of Public Health, Emergency Preparedness Office, Sacramento, CA. Responsible for all Information Technology and Telecommunications functions related to public health emergency preparedness conducted by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Oversee three highly complex Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs), and California's newly proposed 24x7 Medical Health Coordination Center to support the duty officer programs within CDPH. Responsible for overseeing the California Health Alert Network (CAHAN), a secure web-based public health alerting and notification system with over 33,000 participants (including Border States, Mexico, and all 435 California Hospitals). Oversee the implementation of the CAHAN Expansion Project to include all general acute care hospitals, clinics, tribal health, and long-term facilities. Work with public health and medical professionals, response partners, and other stakeholders; e.g. state and local government, environmental health, hospitals, law, fire, and EMS) to assist with CAHAN-specific business strategies, implementation methods, and training goals as part of the CAHAN Expansion Project. Participate in national Health Alert Network (HAN) workgroups as part of the Public Health Information Network (PHIN) Partners Communicatons and Alerting Community of Practice sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Participate on the legislatively mandated Public Safety Radio Strategic Planning Committee that focuses on statewide interoperable communications.
