Biographical Sketch:
Vivian A. Auld is Senior Specialist for Health Data Standards in the National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology (NICHSR), part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). For more than a decade, Ms. Auld has focused on supporting the nationwide implementation of an interoperable health information technology infrastructure to improve the overall quality and efficiency of health care. She works with individuals and groups within the federal government and the private sector on contract and licensing projects to support the establishment, maintenance, distribution, testing, and use of standard vocabularies. She oversees the NLM contract with the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO) to obtain the rights to use and distribute SNOMED CT within the US, as well as the NLM contract with the Regenstrief Institute for the creation and maintenance of LOINC. Ms. Auld has been involved with the IHTSDO since before its inception and has several official positions related to US participation as Member of the ITHSDO. Since 2007, she has served as the US Member Principal Contact, Alternate U.S. Representative to the IHTSDO General Assembly, and one of two U.S. Representatives to the IHTSDO Member Forum. In 2010, Ms. Auld was selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Member Forum.
