1987-1997 - System Admin/Developer, State Hygienic Lab, Iowa City, IA
Responsible for design and development of several laboratory information and management systems in area's of environmental, clinical, and newborn screening. Principal designer of an enterprise wide open source laboratory information system (OpenELIS).
Lead designer for the newborn screening short term follow-up case management system.
Contributing member for the APHL-Public Health Informatics Institute workgroup that developed the Requirements for Public Health Laboratory Information Management Systems (September 2003), Phase 1 & 2 Logical Design for Public Health Laboratory Information Management System (May 2005).
Many presentations on electronic data exchange, security, and public health laboratory information system.
