Biographical Sketch:
From 1979 to 1985, I worked as a public health nurse, pediatric nurse or infectious disease (AIDS) nurse in a variety of settings in Denver, Alaska, Mississippi and South Carolina.
From 1988 to 1990, I worked as an Epidemiologist, Communicable Disease Branch and Surveillance Unit, North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, Raleigh, NC
After completing EIS training, i was hired as a Staff Epidemiologist, Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch, Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA. From 1990 - 1993, I was an Officer (0-4), Active duty Commissioned Corps, United States Public Health Service, Atlanta, GA
From 1995 to 2000, I worked as an epidemiologist for studies of hepatitis A & firearm-related injuries, Bureau of Epidemiology and Surveillance, Salt Lake Valley Health Department, Salt Lake City, UT
From 2000 to 2005, while getting my PhD in Medical Informatics, I worked as a Systems Analyst/Programmer with the Solid Organ Transplant Program at LDS Hospital, Intermountain Health Care, Salt Lake City, UT
For one year, 2005 - 2006, I worked as a Knowledge Engineer/Informaticist, TheraDoc, Inc., Salt Lake City, UT
Finally, from 2006 to the present, I have bee an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, UT.
Published 22 peer-reviewed manuscripts related to public health epidemiology or informatics and have presented numerous posters and talks.
Responsible for the public health informatics track in the Biomedical Informatics graduate training program at the University of Utah.
