Biographical Sketch:
Health Scientist for the Information Systems Branch, Division of Notifiable Diseases and Healthcare Information (proposed),Office of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (OSELS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He also serves as the Point of Contact for several NEDSS related activities, including the CSTE/CDC Case Report Standardization Workgroup (CRSWg). John Abellera has worked in public health for over 10 years. Early in his career, he worked as an epidemiologist for the Pinellas County Health Department in St. Petersburg, FL, and the Georgia Emerging Infections Program in Atlanta, GA. More recently, and prior to joining CDC in January 2007, he served as a Senior Research Analyst for the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. He earned a BS in Applied Ecology at the University of California, Irvine, and an MPH in Epidemiology at the University of South Florida.
