Biographical Sketch:
Mr. Anderson is a Public Health Informatics Fellow assigned to the Office of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (OSELS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). His projects include organizational governance, business process analysis, portfolio management, EHR-MU Electronic Lab Reporting, and system/program evaluation. Prior to CDC, Alvin worked as a Software Developer, HL7 Analyst, Consultant, and Project Manager in the Informatics industry, implementing information systems at hospitals, laboratories, and public health agencies around the country. He has also led process improvement projects, in the healthcare arena. Alvin has a Masters in Information Technology, an MBA, a Graduate Certificate in Public Health Informatics, as well as the Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (LSSMBB), Health Level Seven (HL7), Oracle Certified Professional Database Administrator, and Network+ certifications. Mr. Anderson served as a Commissioned Officer in the US Army, earning the Bronze Star Medal during Desert Storm. His professional interests also include evaluating information systems, implementing Electronic Medical Records, improving clinical/laboratory/public health processes, and conducting informatics training. In addition, Alvin’s career includes: 20 years of leadership experience performed in various industries, excellent business acumen, strong technical, written/oral communication, presentation, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
