Biographical Sketch:
Carolyn McCoy joined the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in 2009 as Program Associate on the Public Health Preparedness team. Her main focus is on the Community Mitigation and Risk-Based Border Strategy project where she provides programmatic support and coordination with the partner organizations.
Ms. McCoy received her Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Arts in political science degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Prior to joining NACCHO, Ms. McCoy held the position of Emergency Operations Officer with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) during the beginning stages of the Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 outbreak in the Emergency Operations Center. Ms. McCoy also held and internship at PAHO/WHO during the summer of 2008. While at PAHO/WHO, her main duties were resource mobilization, authoring daily situation reports and weekly donor updates, and overall monitoring of possible public health emergencies in the Americas region. Previously, Ms. McCoy was a senior field associate in a political consulting firm in Washington, DC where her specialty was international-political campaigns.
