Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Kayode Odusote is a medical graduate of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. After specializing in Neurology, he worked as a Lecturer/Consultant at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria and was later appointed Professor of Medicine (Neurology). In 1992, he was appointed the Secretary of the West African Postgraduate Medical College of the West African Health Community, in which he was involved in developing human resources for prevention of blindness as well as building specialist medical manpower for the five Anglophone countries of West Africa. He became the Director of Human Resources Development of the West African Health Organisation in 2001 and his work on building capacity of human resources for health (HRH) was extended to all the 15 countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region. Since 2005, he has worked with the ECOWAS Ministries of Health and International Institutions, notably WHO, to address the crisis in human resources for health in Africa, which has been hampered by lack of reliable HRH information systems.
