Biographical Sketch:
I am the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) for GE Healthcare IT. GE Healthcare IT (HCIT) is a global leader in delivering information technology solutions that support high-quality and cost-effective care through business, clinical and imaging applications covering settings from the physician office to the integrated delivery network. In collaboration with Nedra Garret, I develop the “EMR Active Alerting” demonstration project from its, conceptual development through execution. I started my informatics career over 18 years ago, focusing on new approaches to increase patient safety, drive physician adoption of technology, and create new methods to implement evidence-based medicine. As CMIO, I have global responsibilities include: applying domain expertise in informatics to drive Comparative Effectiveness Research, strategic evaluation of emerging technologies for the healthcare portfolio, and developing and delivering GE’s clinical informatics research direction and messaging globally. Prior to joining GE, I served as President of MBS Service Inc, a consulting company providing international executive healthcare management services. Earlier in my career, I served as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Wang Healthcare Information Systems, and led that company’s design of an ambulatory electronic medical record.
