Biographical Sketch:
Resham Patel joined the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in September 2010. Ms. Patel works in the public health preparedness division, and has served on the Advanced Practice Centers (APC) team. The APC program is a network of exemplary local health departments (LHDs) that have been chosen to create innovative and practical resources that enhance the capability of LHDs for public health emergencies. On this team, Ms. Patel has worked primarily on program development for LHD outreach through regional workshops. Ms. Patel also works with Project Public Health Ready (PPHR), a competency-based training and recognition program that assesses preparedness and assists local health departments to respond to emergencies. In addition to providing technical assistance to LHDs on plan development and refinement as they seek PPHR recognition, she has worked with subject matter experts to update the PPHR criteria and align it to national preparedness priorities and policies. Prior to joining NACCHO, Ms. Patel had six years of field experience in various emergency prevention and response settings, including as an Emergency Medical Technician, experience teaching emergency care courses for academic and community audiences, and certifications including National Incident Management Systems (NIMS), Hazardous Materials Operations, and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP). Ms. Patel has a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration of Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The Pennsylvania State University.
