Biographical Sketch:
Oct 2009-Till date Employed (full-time) by the Tulane University Technical Assistance Program, Ethiopia (TUTAPE) as Health Informatics Systems Deployment Head. Responsible to oversee the national health information systems including health management information system, electronic health record, human resource information system, tele-health and other ICT infrastructure systems implementation. Providing technical assistance on ICT to the Federal Ministry of Health and associated government agencies and Universities. Support for all ICT activities for TUTAPE office. Jan 2006- Sept 2009 Employed (full-time) by the Tulane University Technical Assistance Program, Ethiopia (TUTAPE) as Information and Communication Technology Appropriate Technologies Head. Responsible to provide ICT related technical assistance for the program and health related government, non government and university partners. Executed various projects and operations on technologies selection, demonstration and deployment for the Ethiopian ministry of health and related stack holders, these include; deployment of computer assisted learning resource centers (tele-health centers), video concerning and telemedicine, connectivity wired & wireless (HealthNet), IT trainings, system administration, Health Management Information System (HMIS)/Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other e-health applications. Nov 2006- Feb 2007 Consultancy work for the design, installation, configuration, and training of High Performance Computing (HPC) Clusters infrastructure the Addis Ababa University Department of Physics, Statistical Physics Research Project. The HPC system includes the deployment of 15 dual processor nodes clustered servers using Fedora core Linux distribution and Open Source Cluster Application Resource. Jan 2004-Jan 2006 Employed (full-time) by the Johns Hopkins University/Center for Communications Program (www.jhuccp.org/africa/ethiopia/arc.shtml) as System Administrator in the Addis Ababa AIDS Resource Center (www.etharc.org). Assigned to deploy, administer, maintain and support a mixed network system of Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory, SQL 2000, Exchange 2003, Linux firewall/proxy, web and application server using ColdFusion and a toll free call center, ACD enabled PABX system. The LAN/WAN environment I was responsible for spans more than 150 workstations centrally and connecting 11 regional sites with 20-30 workstations spread thought out the country. Responsible to oversee various system (application& ICT infrastructure) designs and developments and technologies selection. Executed successfully the initial deployment of the first Ethiopian toll free call center for HIV/AIDS called the Wegen-Talkline ICT infrastructure project (www.etharc.org/wegen).
