In 2009 and 2010, NACCHO, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, conducted needs assessments of local health departments (LHDs). This two-stage project collected information about current informatics capacity and needs within LHDs. The information will be used to both influence policy and decision-makers and to shape NACCHO's knowledge dissemination and technical assistance to build the health IT capacity of local health departments.
