This session will discuss the benefits and challenges of extending electronic clinical systems including EHRs for public health purposes and practices in low resource settings. Presenters will discuss the benefits of having rich data sets and functionality including socio-economic and geographic information, decision support, and mobile platforms to support clinical service delivery and public health practice and research. Presenters will also discuss the challenges with using this wealth of clinical information for public health purposes such as de-identification and confidential data.
