The execution of the Public Health Informatics mission is supported by the PHIN community which is composed of organizations in the Public, Private, and Academic segments. In most cases, the nature of the work is projectized and the responsibility of the sponsoring organizations to ensure the success. In previous years, the PHIN community includes a diverse group of individuals all with different functions and degrees. Regardless of the differences which bring perspective to each project, the fundamental best practices of project management requires the same level of consideration by the community. Strong project management increases project success. The "Triple Constraint" of project success means the project was completed on time, within the budget, and met the agreed upon scope.
Each organization approaches project management differently and in varying degrees of practice. The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global organization and the standard for project management. PMI's framework and approach to project management is flexible and adaptable to any organization and/or project. The benefit of using a single approach and framework for project management is that it clearly outlines how to manage projects in each phase of the lifecycle and manage the components of a project and project team in areas like communication and risk management.
Explore the credentials PMI has developed for the project management profession. Learn about the certification options and determine the right option for you based on your experience in project management. Review the high-level processes on PMI's application and exam process. Understand the benefits certification can provide for you and your organization. You will be provided the necessary information to take your project management journey to the next level
