The Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid™ (caBIG™) is a national informatics infrastructure that connects data, research tools, scientists, and institutions to leverage their combined strengths and expertise in an open environment with common standards.  caBIG™ has served as a the basis and a model for other countries’ cancer research infrastructures, as well as the  technology blueprint for other US agencies, as a way to build and foster the sharing of interoperable systems, services, and data. We will start with an introduction to the caBIG ™ program, followed by a live demonstration of a subset of the current generation of caBIG™ tools and infrastructure. It will feature tools to support translational research, integrating information across different research areas and institutions. Lastly the talk will focus on how caBIG™ infrastructure, organization, community, and tools can be leveraged within Public Health Informatics.
