Biographical Sketch:
2003-present – Surveillance Team Lead, Division of Surveillance and Investigation, Office of Epidemiology, Virginia Department of Health, Richmond, VA Responsible for ensuring the integrity of disease surveillance data and for initiatives to enhance the available information. Major projects include a web-based system to support management of surveillance data by public health staff throughout the state, a syndromic surveillance system for early detection of potential bioterrorism events, sentinel influenza surveillance, electronic submission of data by laboratories, and collaboration on agency-wide informatics projects. 2000-2003 – Disease Surveillance Section Chief, Bureau of Surveillance and Operational Support, Division of Epidemiology, Ohio Department of Health, Columbus, OH Directed HIV, STD, TB, communicable disease and cancer surveillance activities. Guided development and implementation of a NEDSS system. 1987-2000 – Epidemiologist and Epidemiology Supervisor, Division of Epidemiology, Ohio Department of Health, Columbus, OH Conducted surveillance and investigations activities related to general communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS, occupational disease and cancer.
