Biographical Sketch:
Charlie has over fifteen years of experience in informatics and bioinformatics. He served as senior software engineer, system analyst, architect, project lead and other director positions in small and large organizations and companies such as The Scripps Research Institute, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, BioRelation Corporation, HP, etc. Charlie has rich informatics and bioinformatics architecture experience in the areas of e-business application architectures, web services architecture, security architecture, etc. While working at the Scripps Research Institute in collaboration with UCSD, Charlie involved in the prototyping and designing GRID technologies for a protein docking projects. While serving as a principal consultant to many Bay Area pharmaceutical companies, Charlie applied grid technology to enable their in silico pharmaceutical screening engine to access the bioinformatics data grids. While serving as an SAIC consultant to CDC, Charlie has involved in building secure and reliable messaging system (PHINMS) based on the public heath security requirements and also contributed several key architectures for building the secure and reliable public health grid. Charlie has earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Henan University in China and Ph.D. in The University of Texas at Austin.
