Biographical Sketch:
1988-2007 Practicing emergency physician, since 1996 serving as Executive VP for Infinity HealthCare, Inc, a group practice which employed 180 physicians staffing twenty hospital emergency and radiology departments in Wisconsin and Illinois.
2004-Present President of National Institute for Medical Informatics, non-profit organization providing research, development and consulting on advanced health information networking, and primary sponsor of the Wisconsin Health Information Exchange.
Principal investigator for multiple health informatics research projects, particularly involving health information networking, funded by DARPA, National Science Foundation, National Library of Medicine, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Wisconsin Health and Family Services.
Member of multiple national informatics organizations and committees, including recent participation in the Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP).
Author or coauthor of 31 publications and book chapters primarily focusing on medical informatics.
Numerous presentations at scientific meetings.
