Biographical Sketch:
1999-present -- Public Health Advisor/Computer Specialist, CDC, NCPHI, Division of Integrated Surveillance Systems and Services (DISSS), Atlanta, GA Responsible for development, maintenance and management of nationally notifiable disease surveillance database (NNDSS). Responsible for promoting surveillance and epidemiological principles and practices associated with surveillance information systems to state health departments, providing technical consultation in the resolution of complex data management issues and serving as a CDC expert and liaison to other centers on state-based information systems supporting national notifiable disease surveillance. Also worked with internationally funded surveillance initiatives in Egypt and El Salvador assessing public health system infrastructures, reviewing reporting practices for nationally notifiable conditions, providing assistance in development of new policies, and developing monitoring tools. 1998-1999 – Consultant, Children International, Kansas City, MO Responsible for developing a comprehensive software training package in both Spanish and English and conducting basic and intermediate training sessions in Latin America and Asia for CDC’s Epi Info software.
