Biographical Sketch:
Shannon currently works in the areas of high performance computing, grid computing, large scale data management, and image analysis. Shannon is the co-Director of the Software Research Institute and a Senior Research Specialist in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the Ohio State University. He is an architect and lead developer for the caGrid project of the National Cancer Institute. He has researched and developed middleware systems for large scale management of distributed XML data, distributed image archival, high performance distributed data filtering, and data model management. He also researched and developed tools for rapid generation of grid services which enable non grid computing experts to quickly create and deploy strongly typed grid services into a distributed computing environment.
