Biographical Sketch:
Responsibilities of the Informatics Unit include development and training of foundation communications and data visualization tools that serve public health preparedness and response applications on the health department’s secure internet portal, Commerce. Dr. Sottolano works closely with local health departments, health providers, laboratories, and other NYSDOH partners in health data exchange in developing and implementing these tools and applications.
As the NYS Health Alert Network Coordinator, Dr. Sottolano interacts on the national level with CDC and other states in developing best practices and helping to inform policy decisions regarding public health preparedness and response communications.
