Biographical Sketch:
Ulrike "Riki" Merrick is the Public Health Information Specialist for the Public Health Laboratory Interoperability Project (PHLIP). She has 3+ years of experience in terminology consulting and vocabulary standardization. She also has extensive experience as a project manager in real estate development. Riki's responsibilities at APHL include LOINC and SNOMED translation assistance to PHLIP participating PHLs. Participation in national vocabulary harmonization projects like LIMS integration and the Electronic Laboratory Reporting Guide review sponsored by CDC and CSTE. She is a member of HL7, has attended LOINC committee meetings and participated in a SNOMED hierarchy modeling workshop. She is a native German, graduated 1992 from the Medical School at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany and is a licensed physician there. During her time in medical school she worked in the national laboratory on isolation of intestinal spirochetes. She also has a MPH from UCDavis (CA, 2004). She has been with APHL for almost 2 years.
