Biographical Sketch:
CDC, National Center for Public Health Informatics - Program Manager (Acting), Communities of Practice Program, April 2008 – present: Fostering collaborative communities within the Public Health Information Network to facilitate the efficient electronic exchange of information to improve the nation’s health. - IT Specialist leading PHIN Vocabulary and Messaging Program, April 2004 – Mar 2008: Managed the development, implementation, and evaluation of a program to supply the technical expertise, tools, and content needed for CDC and partners to prepare unambiguous and accurate electronic messages with standard vocabularies and message structures. - Co-Project Lead, CDC Web Redesign Project, April 2002 – March 2004: Managed a Team of contractors and interfaced with CDC staff across the Agency to redesign the cdc.gov website. My focus was on the development of an Enterprise Vocabulary Distributed Terminology Server, a Controlled Health Thesaurus (CHT) based on industry standards to facilitate search/retrieval and navigation on the cdc.gov website, a metadata schema and process for tagging web content on the cdc.gov website, and the CDC Health Topics A-Z list. - Digital Library Technical Information Specialist, March 2001 – March 2002: Researched, designed, tested, and implemented a Digital Library Model of CDC Publications. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - Chief Health Sciences Librarian, Jan 1999 – Feb 2001: Managed the services, staff, policies, and processes to provide library services for 2 medical, 2 family, and 2 neighborhood libraries. Egleston Children’s Hospital at Emory University - Medical Librarian, 1985 – 1998: Provided library services to health care practitioners and patient families.
