Biographical Sketch:
2006 – present Founder and Executive Director, AIS for Health, Inc., 105 Scarlett Drive, Warner Robins 1999 – 2005 Doctoral candidate, DrPH Leadership Program, University of North Carolina School of Public, Chapel Hill, NC 1982 – 1995 U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps 1967 – 1982 U.S. Navy Nurse Corps Established the nonprofit AIS for Health, Inc. as a catalyst for Research Matchmaker’s (RM’s) development. Conducted state-wide needs assessment that supported requirement for RM’s services. Recruited distinguished Board of Directors and consultant team with full range of needed expertise. Established extended networks of essential grassroots, nonprofit, academic, corporate, and governmental contacts. Developed comprehensive technical specifications and phased, iterative database development plan. Presented RM at diverse professional conferences. Dissertation analyzed services for 9,191 asthmatic children from a 1996-1998 Georgia Medicaid/PeachCare dataset. It demonstrated a significant (p<0.05) protective effect of asthma controller medications on decreasing asthma-related emergency department visits; and developed an outcome metric for assessing regional impacts of pediatric asthma services. Two primary confounders of this relationship (asthma severity and concomitant illness) were identified and methods devised to control for their effects. Assigned in diverse clinical, nurse practitioner, administrative, and program development roles, at twelve state-side and international, frequently austere and geographically remote, assignments. Became an advocate for collaboration to address shared needs. Developed diverse programs to address family advocacy (Guam), diabetes (VA and CA), health promotion (CA and TX), and asthma needs (MS), by collaborating with civilian colleagues to develop more robust and sustainable services.
