Biographical Sketch:
Ken Rubin is a senior healthcare architect with Electronic Data Systems, Inc. (EDS) primarily focusing on health informatics, enterprise architecture, and electronic health record interoperability. Mr. Rubin has over fifteen years of experience and ten years of health informatics experience, seven of which as the lead Enterprise Application Architect for the [US] Veterans Health Administration (the largest healthcare provider in the United States). Mr. Rubin is very active in the standards community, holding positions as co-chair of the OMG Healthcare Domain Task Force, the HL7 Service-Oriented Architecture Special Interest Group, the Healthcare Service Specification Project (HSSP), and formerly the HL7 Process Improvement Committee. Additionally, Mr. Rubin serves as the Enterprise Architect and on the Board of Stewards for Open Health Tools, a community developing open-source healthcare middleware. Mr. Rubin has responsibility to engage in healthcare industry standards groups to promote areas key to health systems interoperability. Within Health Level Seven, the Object Management Group, and other relevant groups, work is centered on semantic interoperability and service architecture. This is a dual role, both bringing industry best-practices into the company and solutioning key industry challenges while maintaining EDS presence and involvement as an active contributor and leader within the healthcare community. Mr. Rubin is active in chairing committees, authoring white papers, establishing positions on standards ballots. Additionally, he interacts with key customer thought-leaders, and reflecting customer need and industry challenges in EDS’ solutions.
