Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Lippeveld is a public health physician with more than thirty years of experience in health services planning in developing countries. He is the Vice-President of the International Division at JSI since 2000. He has a medical degree from the University of Louvain (Belgium), a master degree in public health from Harvard University (USA), and a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from the Tropical Institute of Antwerp (Belgium). Between 1989 and 1997, he was visiting lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health (USA). Dr. Lippeveld’s main area of work is the design and implementation of national routine health information systems (e.g. Chad, Eritrea, Pakistan, Morocco, Niger, Ivory Coast). Together with his colleagues and with the Unit of Country Information Systems of WHO/Geneva, he wrote and edited a book on lessons learned and best practices in routine HIS, based on various country experiences. Theo Lippeveld is the President and Chairman of the Board of the Routine Health Information NetwOrk (RHINO). He is the Director of the Health Metrics Network Technical Support Partnership (HMN-TSP) and member of the International Technical Advisory Group of the Health Metrics Network. He also is a Senior Technical Advisor on the MEASURE Evaluation Project.
