Biographical Sketch:
Nosa Orobaton is the Deputy Executive Secretary for the Health Metrics Network. He is responsible for strategic partnerships and global alliances for accelerated investments in health information systems for improved health outcomes on behalf of the Network, and its host, WHO. Dr. Orobaton served as the Health Metrics Network Chief of Country Programs from October 2007 to December 2008. Dr. Orobaton also assists the Executive Secretary to coordinate teams within the Secretariat for the effective execution of HMN strategy. From 2006-2007, Dr. Orobaton was Director of Operations for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, and was responsible for overseeing a nearly $ 2 billion portfolio of grants to 145 countries. He has 25 years experience managing and evaluating district health systems. He has designed and implemented community, district and national health information systems, and is experienced in strategic management of a multi-billion dollar grant portfolio in Africa, Asia, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. He has served as adviser to Ministries of Health in Africa. He has consulted on strategic planning, policy research, and health systems strengthening for governments, foundations, for-profit and non-profit organizations. He also consulted for John Snow, Inc, USAID, CIDA and the World Bank. Dr. Orobaton is a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the Routine Health Information Network (RHINO). Dr. Orobaton is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He is a gold medal recipient for national service from Nigeria’s Head of State. Dr. Orobaton is an Adjunct-Assistant Professor of Health Care Management in the UMUC Graduate School of Management and Technology, USA.
