Biographical Sketch:
2002–Present -- Informatics Engineer, Business Computer Applications for the CDC, Atlanta, Georgia 2001–02-- Lead Systems Analyst, Galaxy Scientific Corporation for the FAA, Tucker, Georgia Have been responsible for analyzing, evaluating, gathering user requirements, designing, building, testing, deploying, presenting and recommending IT systems, as well as, Informatics related services and products (COTS, PHIN, VADS, MeSH) for the center’s (NCBDDD) business needs. Have aided in creating an awareness of the need for applications to move towards web-based client system architectures in order to promote accessibility and scalability. Have aided in creating an awareness of the lack of readily accessible and standardized sources of data and the need for integration with external information systems such as PHIN DIR and VADS. Helped in creating an awareness of the need for the use of RUP, CMM and appropriate SDLC methodology to ensure that products are developed systematically, efficiently, on time and within budget. Assisted in the project of the consolidation of web based applications/databases into consolidated and regulated (development, testing, training, staging and production) environments, in order to meet the growing needs of the Web/SQL Server community at the center(s). Have aided in the move towards the use of shared and standardized vocabularies in applications system based on SNOMED and MeSH. Have worked towards the adoption of a Standardized Communication Architectural Model: The move for Public Health Informatics system solutions towards HL7 and PHIN compliancy in order to ensure smooth and efficient interoperability, during the exchanges, management and integration of information. Have aided in systems integration and R&D tasks, continue to investigate, assess risk and evaluate the possibilities of external sources of information (UMLS, VADS, PHIN DIR, etc) and COTS package integration.
