Biographical Sketch:
Osama MG Ibrahim, MD, MSc, Dr.PH, is Public Health Consultant with the Department of Infection Prevention and Control at the Saudi Arabian National Guard Health Affairs. For over twenty-five years has provided leadership, management and technical expertise to the diverse fields of public health in domestic and global settings. Dr. Ibrahim received his MD (1980) from the School of Medicine at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, then his MSc (1989) and Dr.PH (1992) from Military Institute of Health and Epidemiology, Cairo, Egypt, both in Public Health and infectious disease epidemiology. He also, completed a post-doctorate fellowship at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in public health informatics, where he gained extensive international experience in public health informatics and HIV/AIDS surveillance systems. Then, he continued to work with the agency in other international disease surveillance projects. Dr. Ibrahim has worked as Bureau Chief of Epidemiology at the City of Houston, Department of Health and Human Services. Also, In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for nearly fifteen years, as director of Preventive Medicine and School health. He has enjoyed sharing with his colleagues, at the UAE Ministry of Health, the challenges of setting up the national system for disease surveillance, as well as, the majority of the national deliberate public health infrastructure. He also, acted as adjunct professor of Epidemiology at School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the United Arab Emirates University. Dr. Ibrahim took part as Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, and participant in many national and local public health projects. As well, he supervised and mentored numerous medical students and graduates. Dr. Ibrahim had also worked with the WHO as Medical Officer for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) in Pakistan. Along through his professional career, Dr. Ibrahim, has received various awards and nominations from national and international organizations in the broader field of public health.
