Biographical Sketch:
Served 14 years in organized medicine, both with the Utah Medical Association and the American Medical Association. 21 years experience as an independent consultant in medical malpractice, focusing on issues in primary and outpatient care. Research experience at HealthInsight includes serving as co-investigator in IMPART (Inter-mountain Project for Antibiotic Resistance and Therapy), a CDC funded effort involving 12 rural communities in Utah and Idaho to promote appropriate antibiotic use in respiratory illness. Created a pilot project linking antibiotic decision support to a palm-based order entry system, which led to INFORM, an AHRQ technology grant aimed at promoting and studying its effect in rural primary care. Presently engaged in ACCESS, and AHRQ project to empower patients through the Universal Health Resource (UHR), a web-based bridge interactively linking a personal health record with an electronic clinic record.
